Kids Martial Arts

Q: “Will martial arts, karate, tae kwon do teach my child to be hostile and aggressive?”

Absolutely not. Children learn a lot about what it means to be respectful and polite here. As a result, kids who weren't violent in the first place become even more respectful and kind. Kids with behavior problems often become very respectful an calm.

Q: “Do kids get injured in martial arts, karate, tae kwon do?”

Sometimes. But the truth is, injuries are very, very rare here. We have a lot of measures in place to keep your child perfectly safe. In fact, safety is our #1 concern.

Q: “Can my child still participate in martial arts, karate, tae kwon do if he/she is not athletic?”

Yes! In fact, martial arts is kind of a beacon of light for kids who just don't fit into team sports. Kids who never could throw a ball well or run fast find that martial arts is accessible to them. It's something they excel at, and as a result, their confidence soars.

Q: “Is martial arts, karate, tae kwon do fun for children?”

Absolutely! In fact, kids usually have to drag their parents to martial arts class - something parents are always shocked to see. We have our serious moments here where kids work and learn... but we have just as many moments where they goof off and have a blast!

Q: “Do children's confidence & self-esteem grow with martial arts, karate, tae kwon do?”

Absolutely. Kid with low self-esteem often come out of their shells. As their skill level increases, they feel more and more confident. Other kids look up to them, just as they look up to other kids who are ahead of them. It builds a sense of confidence, pride, and teamwork.

Q: “How old should my child be to start martial arts, karate, tae kwon do?”

Any age! Most kids range from 5 to teenagers, but we have kids who are younger, too. Classes are customized to suit children of different ages. A teenager receives very different treatment than a 6 year old, for example.

Q: “Is martial arts, karate, tae kwon do for boys AND girls? Or just boys?”

Martial arts are for boys and girls. Our classes have a good mix of both, too. So if you're worried about your girl being alone in a group of boys, wipe that worry from your mind!

Muay Thai

Q: “Should I get in shape before starting Muay Thai?”

Not at all. If you're not in shape already, our Muay Thai classes will get you into tip-top shape in no time. It's not only an incredible martial art - it's also one of the funnest, most kick-ass workouts around.

Q: “I have a past injury / medical condition. Can I still train?”

If you have a past injury / condition that could interfere with training, we just ask that you speak to your doctor first. Let us know what your doctor says - and if there's any kind of exercise you should avoid in order to not upset your condition.

Q: “Are there a lot of injuries with Muay Thai training?”

Not at all! No one here wants to hurt anyone else. It's like a big team - or family - here. We all train, work hard, sweat and grow stronger together. That, combined with the pre-cautions we've taken to prevent injuries, means that injuries are very rare here.

Q: “If I'm new to this, am I going to have a 'painful' learning process?”

Not at all. For sparring & drills, you'll be paired up with either people of your skill level - or more advanced students who will help show you the ropes. No one here is a "bully" or anything like that. Everyone is extremely supportive and encouraging of one another.

Q: “I have no interest in competitive fighting. Can I still take these Muay Thai classes?”

Absolutely! Our Muay Thai classes are great for people wanting to learn martial arts... wanting to get their adrenaline fix... or just looking for a killer workout.

Q: “I'm a competitive fighter. Will these Muay Thai classes help me in my matches?”

Definitely. We'll help you tone & perfect your technique to give you an edge over your opponents. In addition our training will improve your physique, increase your endurance and stamina, and boost your strength.

Krav Maga

Q: “What kind of physical shape do I need to be in?”

Any! We have Krav Maga students who are in great shape, and others who aren't. Everyone has a great experience, and learns a ton in every class. Those who start out in not-so-great shape often get in shape very quickly. So if this is you, have no fear! Just come and enjoy Krav Maga.

Q: “I have a medical condition / past injury. Can I still take Krav Maga?”

Most likely, the answer is yes. Speak to your doctor, and let us know what he / she says. We'll gladly work with what your doctor has to say to provide you with a safe, fun experience.

Q: “What's the risk for injury with these classes?”

Very low, we're proud to say. We take extreme pre-cautions with our program to insure that you stay safe and sound. As with any form of physical activity, Krav Maga comes with a risk for injury. However, because of the lengths we go to teach Krav Maga safely - injuries are very rare here.

Q: “Are these classes fun? Serious? Strict? Etc.?”

All of the above! Every class ranges from fun & light-hearted, to focused and serious. We've found that a good balance of both provides the most enjoyable and effective learning environment.

Mixed Martial Arts

Q: “Should I get in shape before joining?”

Come in whatever shape you're currently in. If you're already in awesome shape - we'll get you in even better shape. If you're fitness level isn't so hot right now, no worries. Before you know it you'll be athletic, toned, and stronger than ever.

Q: “Do you have injury-prevention measures in place?”

Absolutely. Every class begins with warm-ups and stretching to get you limber and loose. This in itself prevents most injuries. Next, we teach every technique very precisely. And we teach you how to practice it in a very precise way too. This instruction - combined with professional supervision - insures that you won't get injured. Injuries do happen, but they're very rare.

Q: “Is MMA training violent like on TV?”

Our training program is very NON-violent. You're not showing up to some gym full of bullies who just want to hurt you! This is a fun, laid-back environment. Everyone just wants to train, get in great shape, and have fun. We're a team here. Everyone supports one another.

Q: “What are the ages of the other students?”

Students range from 20s to late 40s. However we've had younger, and we've had older. Since you can go at your own pace with this training, there's really no age limit. Well, babies might have a bit of trouble ;-)
